I was on the way from Hainan to Guilin. There is no direct train so I had to go via Liuzhou and from there take the bus for another 2 1/2 hours to Guilin. On this train ride I forgot part of my luggage on the train (my backpack broke shortly before I boarded the train, so I had to repack everything into smaller bags and one of those I forgot). Luckily, there was a French/ Chinese couple in my train cart and the woman helped me and called the train company for me. After a while of debating the train company told us that they would send my bag back on a different train and that I could pick up in Liuzhou the next day. So the next day I took the bus for 2 1/2 hours again. When I got there I could not find the "claim lost luggage", which they usually have at every station. Finally. I went to an information booth and the very nice lady there called her colleague who spoke English.
Unfortunatly, nobody knew anything about bag. The English speaking woman and her superior were extremly helpful and tried to find find out what happend to my bag for more then an hour.
In the end I should go "home" and they will call me when they find the bag and they even said they would send it to Guilin so that I did not have to come back. So I went back to the busstation, but just as I was standing in line my phone rang and the conductor from my train called me to tell me that she already send my bag to Guilin the privious day and that I should gp back to the train station and pick it up. So I went back again had the information booth lady call her colleague again and tried to explain to her that the conductor had told me that the bag had arrived in Liuzhou yesterday.
That caused some confusion, because 'yesterday' was also the day that I arrived in Liuzhou so she misunderstood that I kept telling her that I arrived yesterday and she kept telling me that the bag would take one day to get to Liuzhou and I tried to tell her that the conductor said the bag was already there. After about ten minutes of forth and back she said she did not think the bag was there but she would ckeck something and after a quarter of an hour she came back WITH MY BAG and then she kept saying how sorry she was that she did not know that she wasted my time, but I was just so thankful that she was helpful and spend all her time searching for my bag and that she did not turn me away when I came back for the second time.
